New Remington Defense hand guard

Remington Defense has a new rifle hand guard called the RAHG, Remington Accessory Hand Guard.
The REMINGTON ACCESSORY HAND GUARD RAHG appears to be closely related to the monolithic hand guards of the REMINGTON ACR and REMINGTON R5 RGP. It is available in 2” and 2 1/2”  widths. The RAHG features TIME-SERT threaded inserts at key locations on the RAHG to facilitate the mounting of rails, slings and anything else you can think of. Time-Sert inserts are well know in the automotive repair industry for repairing damaged threads.

Remington differentiates its tubular aluminum hand guard from the competition in two major ways.

First, the hand guard will come in two widths, 2 and 2.5 inches, to accommodate shooters that want either the feel of a slimmer hand guard or the comfort associated with the heat dissipating qualities of a larger diameter hand guard.

The SECOND differentiator is Remington’s use of "TIME-SERT" inserts that provide fixed, screw out mounts for the movable rail sections. Remington says the "TIME-SERTS" will withstand 250 pounds of linear pull forces and lugs on the backside of the rail sections further strengthen the interface by providing significant shear force resistance.

Versions will be available in carbine and rifle lengths, as well as a separate pair made to accommodate the HK416. Pricing is not yet available, but Remington says they hope to have the rails shipping before SHOT Show 2013.





RAHG™The Remington Defense signature hand guard that brought new levels of versatility to the MSR, ACR, R5 and R11 is now available in long (for 14”+ barrels) and short (for 10” barrels) lengths to fit a wide range of 5.56mm and 7.62mm carbines. Each Remington Accessory Hand guard (RAHG) comes complete with all necessary mounting hardware, an assortment of accessory rail sections that can be positioned on any of 7 planes, integral flush-cup sling swivel receivers, and EO accessory cable routing guides.
